  • Intermediate Architecture Staff

    THE ROLE

    As Intermediate Architectural Staff you will work to coordinate the team effort to complete project documents successfully. You will be required to develop designs to meet client expectations and goals, create and propose project time estimations, and act as an intermediary between the client and the subcontractors on a wide variety of residential and commercial buildings, including churches, mixed-use buildings, and institutional projects.

    • Provides support to multiple concurrent project managers and projects
    • Translate conceptual sketches into CAD drawings, review shop drawings, and assist in the development of client presentations
    • Assist in construction administration including site visits and assisting in design challenges
    • Maintain project organization, including correspondence, drawings, and material samples
    • Maintain internal systems for project management
    • Assist Project Manger to meet client expectations regarding design intent, budgets, estimates, and schedules for assigned projects
    • Work with team to develop the design and construction documents
    • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors to cultivate strong relationships

    THE SKILLS

    • Proficient in AutoCAD
    • Proficient in SketchUp and Adobe C-Suite preferred
    • Knowledge of building codes, and design standards
    • Interest in historic precedents, urban planning and craft, and materiality a plus
    • Traditional design and freehand drawing preferred
    • Excellent attention-to-detail and resourceful
    • Strong organizational, communication and relationship management skills

    THE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited school
    • 5-8 years of experience working in Architecture

    THE POSITION

    We are looking for a team member dedicated to designing and building architecture that is both grounded in cultural tradition and beautiful, lasting, and meaningful at all scales. The candidate will work alongside our team from schematic design through construction administration on projects ranging from residential estates to a wide variety of civic and commercial buildings, including churches, mixed-use buildings, hospitality, and institutional projects. 

    The candidate will assist the project manager through all stages of a project’s development. Responsibilities will include leading the development of the design documents; coordinating with and translating conceptual sketches into CAD drawings; compiling and creating client presentations; solving design challenges; site analyses and code research; maintaining project organization and documentation; reviewing shop drawings; communicating with the general contractor team and other vendors.  

    THE QUALIFICATION

    The qualified candidate should have a professional degree in architecture, at least 3-5 years of professional experience in the field, strong communication skills, exceptional time management skills, resourcefulness, self-motivation, a commitment to professional growth and learning, and a dedicated work ethic. The position requires a candidate with interest in the understanding and interpretation of historic precedents, urban planning and new urbanism, craft, and materiality. The candidate must have the graphic skills necessary to communicate and visualize spaces and the ability to develop technical drawings in AutoCAD, Revit and 3D models in Sketchup and other rendering programs. Candidates with experience and skill in traditional design are preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience.
